We recently told you about the fantastic dog rescue work being done by the Second Rescue Center in Georgia, where dogs are rescued and nursed back to health. Well, it looks as though the state has a wealth of awesome rescue centers, because we’ve got a great tale to tell you straight from The Peach State’s Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane Society.
You’re about to meet Rami. He’s a rescue dog, like all the other pooches that come through the doors of Moultrie Colquitt. But he’s a little different from the rest. He’s a pretty unusual cross breed… Rami is half pit bull, half dachshund.
It’s such a strange combination and it certainly takes a little time getting used to his unique look, but it’s not long before you fall in love with him!
When a member of the public found Rami walking about the neighborhood with no collar, he rang the center to report him. After checking that he definitely didn’t have an owner, they took him in.
Because he’s so odd looking, they weren’t sure whether anyone would actually want to take him… But how wrong could they be! He proved hugely popular after their posted about him on their Facebook page. Hundreds of people responded!
So many people got in touch in fact that they couldn’t pick someone. So the center kept Rami and he’s now a therapy dog who visits schools, hospices and nursing homes. He also helps new dogs settle into the rescue center.
