No one likes rain, do they? It’s a lousy thing and it can ruin anyone’s day. But while we might not enjoy actually being outside in it, there is something strangely romantic about precipitation, isn’t there? When you’re wrapped up nice and warm at home and you can hear it on the windows. Or when you’re in a car and it hits the windscreen…

Well, the Belfast-based artist Francis McCrory and his Rainy Windshield art really bring to mind that feeling of comfort. His ultra realistic paintings are brilliant. In fact, you’d never know they weren’t photographs!

‘I like to observe the world through a different type of lens, a rainy car windshield,’ Francis explains of his art. ‘The patterns and captivating distortions the raindrops leave on the glass reveals beautiful, sometimes quite abstract formations.’

Have a look at some of his great work:

See? Proof that it’s all artwork painted by someone!

We really love this guy’s work.

We’ve all been here as drivers.

When your wipers just can’t handle the torrent of rain…

Here’s a sneak peek into the brilliantly talented artist’s studio…

How excellent is Francis work, huh? It’s brilliant. Just like the similarly realistic 3D art of Stefan Pabst.
