Who does the majority of the work in your house? The chores, we mean. The housework. Is it you? Or do you share the burden? Is it just a bunch of things that need doing and you all club in together? Or is it seen as ‘woman’s work’? With the idea of the housewife pretty much consigned to history, there isn’t really a good reason to just assume that household tasks are the sole responsibility of the matriarch anymore.

And that’s exactly the point in this oddly touching and extremely thought-provoking commercial from the washing detergent manufacturer Ariel. In this latest ad from India of theirs, they really play with the idea of inherited assumptions like these. And the message is as simple as it is clear – ‘Share the load!’

This little commercial has racked up well over two MILLION views on YouTube alone and it’s not more than two weeks old. It’s really striking a note with people worldwide who see the value in spreading the load. Watch as a woman’s dad sees the toll it can take and does his bit to make a difference…
