The advent of unmanned aerial vehicles, more commonly known as drones, has given photographers and film makers a whole host of remarkable opportunities for creating new and exciting pieces of art. Small and lightweight, drones are able to fly close and low, which up until now has been near impossible using manned aircraft. This gives the drones unique access to things that we have never before been able to capture on camera.

When this drone was being flown over waters off the coast of Alaska, it came across something incredibly special – a group of humpback whales hunting for their dinner. By flying close to the surface of the water, it was able to catch awesome and rare footage of the whales feeding, as well as the circling gulls.
