This Baby Dolphin Died Because Tourists Passed It Round Taking Selfies With It

There were shocking scenes on an Argentinian beach recently when a baby dolphin washed up on the shore. But instead of helping it back into the water… Everyone on the beach picked it up and passed it around for selfies. Until the little thing died.

A spokesperson from the Vida Silvestre Foundation said this about the incident: “Dolphins can not remain long above water. They have very thick and greasy skin that provides warmth, so the weather will quickly cause dehydration and death.”

Franciscana dolphins are only found in the waters surrounding southeastern South America and are considered as a ‘vulnerable’ species by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). In fact, there are less than 30,000 of these beautiful creatures left in the world…

Poor, poor thing…

Dolphin

Dolphins are not accessories for selfies. They’re animals that should be in the sea. Act accordingly, world.
