Irish dancing. You’ve probably got your own ideas about what it’s all about. It’s a bunch of old grannies getting together to kick their legs up a bit, isn’t it? Or, alternatively, Michael Flatley and his Riverdance crew with their silly blurry feet. It’s not the most respected form of dance. And that probably why the judges on this TV talent show were pretty sceptical when a Irish dance troupe pitched up on the stage for an audition.
The show was the third season of the United Kingdom’s Sky One series, Got To Dance. The dancers? They’re called Prodijig. But they’re no average Gaelic two-steppers, oh no. This lot can really dance! They mix traditional-style Irish jigging with a modern flavor to create their very own and distinctive dance that wows the judges, crowd and audience at home.
So loved were they that they actually went on to win the show and when you watch it – you’ll see exactly why they romped to victory…
