La Marina, Columbia. New mother and cop Luisa Fernanda Urrea was called to a forest after a report was phoned in to report an abandoned baby. When she arrived, she found the member of the public who had stumbled across the little girl in the undergrowth. Calling the paramedics, it was obviously that the cold little baby was starving to death. Without thinking, Luisa began to breastfeed her. She saved her life.
“I’m a new mother and I have milk and I recognised the needs that this poor little creature had”, Urrea says. “I think any woman would have given her nourishment in the same circumstances.”
Local police commandant Javier Martin told the media afterwards how the poor little thing was so recently born that she still had her umbilical cord attached to her belly button. “The girl had some lacerations and was suffering from hypothermia. However, she was treated quickly and is now in good health. We could be dealing with a case of attempted homicide, although it’s the prosecutor who will decide the charge.”
It’s a touching story. Here’s the video the policewoman posted on to her Facebook page:
