About NRL
The Australian Rugby League organized it at first. The partnership behind it was dissolved in 2012, and control passed to the re-constituted ARL, which was restructured with an independent board and renamed the Australian Rugby League Commission. A season usually runs from March to October, with each team playing 24 matches. The top eight teams then contest a finals series that decides the two sides for the Grand Final at Stadium Australia. The winner receives the Provan-Summons Trophy as premiers and goes on to the World Club Challenge against the champions of the English Super League. Teams from Western Australia, the Perth Bears, and Papua New Guinea, the Papua New Guinea Chiefs, are set to join in 2027 and 2028.
