About NBA
Its headquarters are split between New York City and Secaucus, New Jersey. The league took shape on August 3, 1949, when the Basketball Association of America joined with the National Basketball League, and it treats June 6, 1946, the date the Basketball Association of America was founded, as its own beginning. A 1976 merger with the American Basketball Association brought four more franchises into the NBA. Teams play 82 games each between October and April, and the postseason continues into June, ending with the NBA Finals. The NBA G League is the level directly below it.
