Biker Gangs Patrol Flood-Ruined UK Towns Scaring Off Looters

Date:

Parts of the United Kingdom, specifically northern England, have been ravaged by terrible floods this week, with thousands losing their homes and entire towns almost being lost to the sheer volume of unexpected water rushing in. It’s been a hard time for the locals. And it’s been made even worse in counties like Yorkshire where looters have targeted the water-wrecked buildings, stealing whatever they can get their selfish criminal hands on.

The police in the area are stretched and struggling, encouraging more looters to the area. So local biker gangs decided that enough was enough and they would step in to help. The bikers clubbed together to form a presence and patrol the streets, intimidating any would-be thieves…

“A lot of us are quite big, chunky lads, so that helps. We don’t have to really say anything, just turn up,” says a guy called Spencer, 57, who is 6ft 5ins and weighs more than 300lbs.

Floods

“We saw people post on Facebook that they were trying to deter looters, and I thought who better to do that but 20-30 burly bikers. We are not there to hurt anybody. We are not there to scare anybody. We are just there as a presence to deter people who are trying to take what’s not theirs.” said Dave Cariss of The Drifters motorcycle club.

Floods

A couple of the do-gooding biker guys spoke to the media to explain how they happened to get involved in doing such a nice deed for the people of the flood-wrecked towns…
