From Season 4 Fans Are About To Be Absolutely Devastated

Production just wrapped but the news gets worse – fans could be waiting until summer 2026

The wait is about to get much longer for “From” fans. In devastating news that just keeps getting worse, MGM+’s sci-fi horror masterpiece won’t be returning until at least spring 2026 – and possibly even later. Production officially wrapped on November 21, 2025, but new analysis suggests fans could be waiting until summer 2026 or beyond.

For a series that has maintained clockwork precision in its release schedule since debuting in 2022, this news represents a complete breakdown of the show’s reliability.

Production Wraps But The Timeline Gets Worse

On November 21, 2025, the official From Instagram account announced that filming on Season 4 had wrapped. While this should be good news, entertainment analysts are now warning the release could be pushed even further back than the originally projected early 2026 date.

Looking at the show’s historical patterns reveals a disturbing trend: season 2 arrived 14 months after season 1, and season 3 followed 17 months later. If Season 4 follows this increasingly extended timeline, fans might not see new episodes until spring or summer 2026 – nearly two years after Season 3’s November 2024 finale.

“From” has been a model of consistency since it premiered on Epix (now MGM+) in February 2022. Season 2 arrived in April 2023, and Season 3 debuted in September 2024. Fans had every reason to expect Season 4 would continue this pattern with a late 2025 release.

Those hopes were crushed when series star Catalina Sandino Moreno (Tabitha Matthews) confirmed what many had feared. Speaking with The Direct, she revealed filming wouldn’t wrap until November 2025, making a 2025 premiere impossible.

“I think the end of the year is a pretty quick turnaround,” Moreno explained. “Because I feel that we finish [filming] in November. So, I don’t have high hopes at the end of the year, but next year, the beginning of next year, it’s going to come.”

The disappointment was compounded by earlier mixed signals from producers. Executive producer Jeff Pinkner had initially expressed optimism, saying they were “wildly hopeful” for a 2025 release. But series creator John Griffin quickly poured cold water on those hopes, noting they “probably won’t be done shooting until the holidays.”

A Streaming Trend Nobody Asked For

This delay isn’t happening in a vacuum. “From” is joining an increasingly frustrating trend of prestige television shows taking longer and longer between seasons. Netflix’s “Stranger Things” notoriously had gaps ranging from one to three years between seasons. “Wednesday” faces similar delays. Even “Severance” left fans waiting nearly three years between seasons 1 and 2.

The shift represents a fundamental change from traditional television, where shows maintained annual schedules that kept audiences engaged and invested. As one frustrated fan put it on Reddit: “I’m tired of these new shows releasing every two years.”

For “From,” this pattern is particularly damaging because the show thrives on its intricate mysteries and cliffhangers. The Season 3 finale left viewers reeling after Jim Matthews (Eion Bailey) was brutally killed by the mysterious Man in Yellow, while major revelations about Tabitha and Jade’s reincarnated identities demanded immediate follow-up.

The Production Reality Check

Currently filming in Nova Scotia, Canada, “From” Season 4 began production in June 2025. The 10-episode season faces the same complex post-production demands that have made modern television increasingly time-consuming to produce.

Unlike the network TV era, when shows had streamlined production pipelines and year-round schedules, streaming series now treat each season like an extended movie production. Visual effects, extensive editing, and the pressure for cinematic quality all contribute to longer timelines.

But for fans who’ve been following Boyd Stevens, Tabitha, and the rest of the trapped townspeople since 2022, these technical explanations offer little comfort.

What This Means for the Show’s Momentum

“From” has been MGM+’s most-watched series throughout its run, maintaining impressive critical scores (96% on Rotten Tomatoes) and a fiercely devoted fanbase that dissects every episode for clues about the town’s supernatural mysteries.

The extended gap threatens to disrupt that momentum. Mystery shows particularly suffer from long hiatuses because they rely on sustained audience investment in complex, ongoing plotlines. When viewers have to wait over a year for answers to major cliffhangers, engagement naturally wanes.

The show’s online theory communities – which have been instrumental in maintaining buzz between episodes – may struggle to stay active during such an extended drought. Social media discussions about the show’s mysteries risk becoming stale without new content to fuel speculation.

Fan Frustration Reaches Breaking Point

The delay announcement has sparked widespread disappointment across “From’s” dedicated fanbase. Social media is filled with expressions of frustration from viewers who had planned their 2025 viewing around the show’s return.

“This is certainly not good news for fans who are already at their wits’ end when it comes to the long wait,” noted one entertainment reporter covering the story.

The frustration is amplified by the show’s season-ending cliffhangers. Season 3 introduced major new threats, killed off a beloved character, and revealed game-changing information about the town’s nature. Forcing fans to wait over a year for resolution feels particularly cruel given how the story was structured.

Many fans are also worried about the show losing cultural relevance during the gap. In today’s crowded streaming landscape, maintaining visibility requires consistent content output. A year-plus hiatus could see “From” fade from popular consciousness just as it was building serious momentum.

The Silver Lining (Maybe)

Optimists argue the extended production timeline could result in higher quality episodes. More time for post-production theoretically means better visual effects, more polished editing, and deeper attention to detail.

MGM+’s commitment to renewing the series before Season 3 even finished airing demonstrates confidence in the property. The network clearly sees “From” as a flagship series worth the investment, even if that means accepting longer production cycles.

Creator John Griffin has also hinted that the show could continue beyond Season 4, with plans potentially extending to five seasons or more. A strong Season 4 could justify the wait and set up an even more ambitious endgame.

What Comes Next

With production now officially wrapped as of November 21, 2025, “From” Season 4 enters the lengthy post-production phase. Based on previous seasons’ timelines of approximately five months of post-production work, even an optimistic estimate puts the earliest possible release at April or May 2026.

However, industry watchers are increasingly pessimistic. Tom’s Guide reports that “an early 2026 release date is looking less likely” and suggests fans should prepare for a spring or summer 2026 premiere at the earliest.

The season will introduce one confirmed new character: Canadian actress Julia Doyle joins as Sophia, described as “a sheltered and vulnerable pastor’s daughter” who becomes the town’s newest trapped resident. How her arrival will impact the already devastated community remains unknown.

The season must also address the immediate aftermath of Jim Matthews’ shocking death, explore the growing threat of the Man in Yellow, and continue unraveling the mysteries surrounding Tabitha and Jade’s supernatural connection to the town – storylines that have been left hanging for over a year.

The Bottom Line

What started as disappointing news has become absolutely devastating. After three seasons of reliable annual releases, “From” isn’t just breaking its pattern – it’s potentially doubling the usual wait time between seasons.

With filming now wrapped but post-production timelines suggesting a spring or summer 2026 release, fans face an unprecedented 18-24 month gap between seasons. This represents the longest drought in the show’s history and threatens to severely damage the momentum “From” had been building as one of television’s most compelling horror series.

For a show about people trapped in an inescapable town, the irony is cruel: fans are now trapped in their own endless wait, with no clear escape date in sight. The longer the delay stretches, the more likely it becomes that “From” will lose the cultural relevance it worked so hard to build.

What was supposed to be an early 2026 return has become a question mark that could extend well into the summer – or beyond.
