The little clip we’ve got for you here is, on the surface, a little upsetting. And there’s no getting around the fact that it’s sad. But, we think you can find some real beauty in it. We see a little bird pining for its partner, that’s just died. The bird’s distressed. But it’s proof that even animals can love. And do so with real strength.

Parakeets mate for life. You buy and keep them in twos. So when one of them passes away, it’s quite hard for the other bird. They establish extremely close bonds with other birds and mourn their deaths as we would.

We’re sure that this bird was okay after a little while. The owner, you can hear, is upset too. So he clearly knows and loves birds. He’ll no doubt know what to do when a parakeet’s mate dies. He can either buy a new bird or make an effort to some more love and attention to the remaining one so that it forms a connection with him. It’s also encouraged that the owner hums or sings soothingly to the bird to settle it when stressed…
