Shaolin monks are famed for their fighting skills and unique talents. One thing you might not know about them though is their amazing ability to run across water. Seriously. It’s a special and ancient Chinese martial art stunt, known as ‘Shuishangpiao’.

Recently, 33 year-old Shaolin monk Shi Liliang from Southern Shaolin Temple broke the world record for the discipline. He ran on the surface of a long row of one centimeter thick (that’s exactly 0.39 inch) plywood boards for 125 meters (or 410 feet). The physics-defying effort took place on the banks of a reservoir on the outskirts of Quanzhou, in the Fujian province of China.

Being able to run across the two hundred floating plywood boards is almost impossible. But somehow, with his Shaolin training, concentration and dedication, Liliang manages it.
