Nowadays, we all want to be fit and healthy, don’t we? There’s never been so much attention paid to our well-beings. Whether it’s ourselves, our friends or the media, it seems as though there’s pressure to eat well, work out and generally look after ourselves. And why not? We all want to look long, happy and healthy lives. But is it really as difficult as it seems? Could there be an easy – and enjoyable – way to get healthy…? Well, it seems so. And the answer is WINE!
New research from The University of Alberta claims that not only is a glass of wine not bad for your health, it’s actually beneficial and can be equal to a full hour’s worth of working out at the gym. Muscle strength and general physical fitness is enhanced by a chemical called ‘resveratrol‘, which is found in red wines.
Researcher Jack Dyck says this: “We were excited when we saw that resveratrol showed results similar to what you would see from extensive endurance exercise training. I think resveratrol could help patient populations who want to exercise but are physically incapable. Resveratrol could mimic exercise for them or improve the benefits of the modest amount of exercise that they can do.”
Who would have thought it? A glass of wine really IS good for you. So now you never have to feel guilty about opening a bottle ever again. Why not enjoy a few glasses with some nice garlic-y pasta too? Garlic is good for your health too. Lots of enjoyable things are good for you, actually. Even oral sex has health benefits…
