Kanya Sesser is, undeniably, a beautiful woman. A lingerie model from Oregon, she really is quite a stunner. She can command more than $1,000 as a daily rate from her clients. But she’s a little different from other models working in the industry. She has no legs.
Kanya was born without lower limbs in Thailand in 1992. Her family, rather shamefully, abandoned her and she was left with the prospect of growing up in an orphanage. But, at age five, she was adopted by a Portland family and has lived there ever since.
Kanya’s life’s work is to prove to people that regular definitions of beauty are merely stereotypes and that beauty comes in all different shapes and sizes. She’s dedicated her career to helping redefine what is and isn’t sexy. Sexiness is an attitude.
Eight years Kanya’s been modelling now. She started off as a sports model and, when she was old enough, began to be approached by various underwear and lingerie companies.
She told UK newspapers recently:
“It’s something fun and it shows my story — I’m different and that is sexy, I don’t need legs to feel sexy. I enjoy making money from it and I love showing people what beauty can look like. These images show my strength.”
She’s a brave woman, unburdened by what others might view as her disability. She embraces the world and all that comes with it. Just as she embraces Brian, her new boyfriend that she met on a recent shoot. ‘She’s beautiful and unique’, he says.
