Police in the UK are hunting for a man after he was caught on CCTV getting a refund on a television that he had simply taken off the shelf.

The as yet unidentified man walked into an Aldi supermarket in Lincoln, England, on January 2nd, and proceeded to take a boxed Bauhn 49in Smart TV off the shelf, before heading to the cash desk. However, rather than pay for the $400 television, the man requested a refund.

When the cashier asked for a receipt, the suspect walked up to the supermarket manager, and shook his hand, which the cashier took as a signal that he should give the refund. The man was given £330 (approx $400) in cash, and brazenly marched out of the store. It was not until reviewing CCTV later that day, that staff realised what had happened.

Aldi supermarkets have as-yet remained silent. However, Lincolnshire Police put out the following statement:

“We are looking to speak with this man seen on CCTV as we believe may be able to assist our enquiries. If this is you, or you recognise this person, please call 101 quoting “incident 324 of January 2″. To report anonymously please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”

We are convinced that with images this clear, it won’t take long to snare this smiling conman.
