The number of people that die in road traffic crashes across the world each year is shocking. RTCs account for a significant portion of deaths, especially in younger people. And many car manufacturers are committed to helping stamp out the problem. But none more so than Swedish car giant, Volvo. The company has long been seen as innovators and leaders in car safety. And they’re going one better at the moment. They’re focusing on creating a car that’s ‘death proof’. Volvo charts how many people in Sweden die inside its cars each and every year. A survey just conducted and released by the popular dating website Match.com makes for some interesting reading. They asked 5,000 singles about their use of emojis in texts. And the research shows that people who use at least one emoticon in every single text message they send tend to be much more sex-focused. The survey showed a direct correlation between the amount of emojis used on average and the number of times that person reflected on carnal issues during any given day. But remember – ‘correlation isn’t causation’. Little yellow faces winking don’t turn people on. We hope. But that wasn’t all they…
Gainesville, Florida. A local resident calls the police department, complaining about some noise they can hear a few kids up the street making. The youngsters were playing basketball and apparently making too much of a din. So Officer Bobby White was dispatched. But on arriving, he found the kids weren’t making much noise at all… So he decided to ignore the silly phone call and report and just dunk a few balls with the kids! The Gainsville Police Department happily posted the dashcam footage up onto their Facebook account, saying: ‘Officer White was recently dispatched to a call of kids playing basketball…
The guys at VAT19 decided to set up a little experiment. We could pretend it was for science, but it reality it was all just for a bit of fun. And as a little bit of a prank of one of their friends… The idea? As simple as it is odd: a putty bath! That’s right, a bathtub full up with clear liquid glass putty. 500lbs of the stuff to be exact. A full drum barrel of the gloppy stuff you used to play with as a kid was – very slowly – poured into a bath. And one of…
27 years ago, Ingeborg McIntosh fought tooth and nail to adopt Jordan, her foster son. She’d had more than 120 foster children come through her doors and loved every single one of them. But there was something special about little Jordan. “They placed him in my arms and it was love at first sight,” Ingeborg says. “He was a part of the family, no matter what.” Almost three decades later? He saved her life by donating a kidney when she was very sick. “I feel like this was my calling in life, I guess,” says Jordan tearfully. “Hopefully I can do…
Astronomers have incredibly discovered an as-yet-unfound NINTH PLANET in our solar system. It’s been dubbed ‘Planet X’, it’s about the size of Neptune and it’s hidden behind Pluto. It’s thought to orbit the sun once every 15,000 years. There’s no concrete proof of Planet X yet as no pictures have been taken, but scientists are confident in their discovery. Konstantin Batygin and Mike Brown of the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena, California, are behind the research. And Brown says this of what they’ve found: “If you say, ‘We have evidence for Planet X,’ almost any astronomer will say, ‘This…

Firstly, there’s the 131ft x 114ft NASA Crawler-Transporter which weighs more than six million pounds, cost a huge amount to build and are capable to moving rockets and even speace shuttles around. Then there’s Big Bertha, the world’s biggest tunnel boring machine which weighs in at over 7,000 tonnes. And…
Manny the cat is one clever puss. His owners have always suspected that he’s smarter than the average cat and he’s recently proved it to them. How? Well, he’s learned how to take selfies!
