Scientists from the University of Franche-Comt in Besançon, France, are calling for women across the world to ditch their bras and go fully au naturel. Why? Well, it’s not because they’re just a bunch of French guys being French guys. And it’s not because they plan on sponsoring National No Bra Day on October 13th or anything. Nope. They’ve got actual science behind it…
Jean-Denis Rouillon is the main man behind the call. A sport science researcher and professor at the university, he conducted a fifteen year study on the effect of bras on over three hundred women aged 18 to 35 (what a job, huh?!). Rouillon and his research team discovered that the women who shirked bras ended up with perkier, higher breasts.
Professor Rouillon recently told a French newspaper in an interview the following: “Medically, physiologically, anatomically – breasts gain no benefit from being denied gravity. On the contrary, they get saggier with a bra.”
Dr. Stafford Broumand, another expert in the field – who was not connected to the research – agrees: “For younger women, not wearing a bra will lead to increased collagen production and elasticity, which improves lift in a developing breast.”
Here’s a women who took the plunge to going ‘no bra’. Let’s hear her story:
