When you have children, you have a real obligation and duty to do the best for them and look after them. In today’s day and age, perhaps the biggest and most obvious threat to your kids’ safety is the internet. It’s important that you know how to keep your kids safe online. The dangers of social media are all too real, after all. But it shouldn’t be forgotten that very real dangers exist offline as well. Ordinarily, parents are very insistent with their little ones about ‘stranger danger’ and the risk of talking to adults that they don’t know. In…
A heart-rendering picture of a poor newborn baby born with one eye has been released by medical experts in Egypt. The eye is central to the face, giving a ‘Cyclops’-like appearance to the unfortunate child, who isn’t expected to live much past the first week of its life. The baby was born with a whole host of other mutations and deformities – including ‘Cyclopia’ – and it’s thought to be due to exposure to radiation inside the womb or due to a combination of different medicines taken by the mother during pregnancy. The initial pregnancy scan didn’t show up too much in the…
Jade Hornsby was pregnant and looking forward to her first 4D ultrasound scan. The 21 year-old from Dagenham in East London quickly ripped opened the envelope given to her in a frenzy of anticipation… What did her new child look like? When she saw – she was ecstatic. Her unborn child was beautiful! But wait a minute… What was that next to the child? It looked like… Could it be?! Jade could clearly see a picture of her late grandfather KISSING her child. She was understandably shocked. ‘It’s really spooky. It looks just like him, and you can see him…
A ‘mega-tsunami’ could be heading our way soon and could be of such biblicial proportions that we’d all face extinction. A 1,000ft wave swept across the Earth 73,000 years ago. A volcano on the Cape Verde Islands off West Africa set that particular tsunami going and many scientists say we’re due another one. This ancient effort saw more than 40 cubic miles (167 cubic meters) of rock smash into the ocean, resulting in an 800ft (244m) high wave that swallowed up an island more than thirty miles away. It was devastating. Doctor Ricardo Ramalho, a leading scientist who studies these kinds of things, from…
Johannesburg Zoo. A huge zoo that has plenty of safari animals, as you can imagine (being in Africa). One of Johannesburg Zoo’s most famous and best-loved residents? Triton the lion. He’s a fun loving big cat. A must see if you head there. Enormous and regal, Triton is an impressive beast to behold. But he doesn’t just look good, he’s got the skills to pay the bills too! You see, Triton can play soccer. He loves ‘football’ as it’s known over there and can really play. South Africans love the game of soccer, and that’s pretty clear here… They even hosted…
You’re a fan of the Back To The Future movies, aren’t you? Everyone loves them, after all. That was back when family films were all the rage. Well made and actually funny… *sigh* Anyway, remember the second in the franchise? Sure you do! The plot of Back To The Future Part II has Marty McFly (Michael J Fox) and Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) travel thirty years into the future year of 2015. It’s all very different from the past. And how the future has actually turned out. But Pepsi are determined to make one things accurate – the soda they all drank. They’re releasing a…
Some people are dumb. We all know that. And it’s especially true on the internet. Jeez, some of the folks you come across online are so stupid it’s almost unbelievable. Still, at least they manage to make us feel better about ourselves, don’t they? With their basic inability to grasp simple concepts. And it can provide us all with a cheap laugh too… And that’s what this little collection of pictures is all about. So sit back, take the dunce cap off and enjoy fifteen people who are A LOT stupider than you! 1.) ‘Pocketful of money!’ 2.) Nature photography. …
“Possible jumper on the York Bridge. Can you notify Pasadena?” When Officer Chris Perez heard these words, he knew he was near the scene. He’d only been on the force for a year and was eager for a chance to make a difference and really help people. And this was to be his night. On the bridge? A distraught 12 year-old standing on a six-inch wide ledge. 80ft away from her death. The rookie cop had to think fast… “I walked up to her calmly. I literally didn’t even start talking to her until I made it to the sidewalk and…
We all love a good burger, don’t we? A huge great big juicy slab of beef encased in bread, with melted cheese all over it. But it’s not always convenient to chow down on an entire burger. Like if you just fancy a quick snack or you’re at a party or something. That’s why some clever so-and-so invented ‘The Slider’. Mini burgers, in other words. But what’s the best way to make sliders? You might have you’re own way which probably involves making them like normal burgers. Only smaller (of course). But there’s a better way. And we’d love to…
We feel officially old after having heard about this. Normally when a new fashion, trend or craze kicks off we can kind of understand it, if not actually enjoy doing it ourselves. But the latest fad doing the rounds with teenagers? No way! It’s called ‘Phone Pinching’. Youngsters film each other holding their cellphones at the top just between their thumbs and index finger (which is where the ‘pinching part comes in’). They then precariously dangle the expensive piece of technology over something like an elevator shaft, balcony or subway grate. One tiny false move and BAM! Say goodbye to…
