When a hungry leopard encountered the carcass of a dead zebra in the Djuma Private Game Reserve in Vuyatela, South Africa, he couldn’t believe his luck. It’s not often an African predator comes across a meal this substantial out there on the plains. The hungry leopard did what hungry leopards do and hunkered down to enjoy his meal. Greek architecture firm Open Platform for Architecture has released images of this stunning design for a new type of house that they wish to build directly into the cliffside on the Greek island of Rhodes. It is the design of architects Laertis Antonios Ando Vassiliou and Pantelis Kampouropoulos. Vassiliou grew up on the island, and has always been fascinated with its high cliffs facing out into the Aegean Sea. When a shoal of fish approached the platform where this tiny little duckling was enjoying his dinner, they didn’t know what to expect. Animals are not especially noted for cross-species cooperation or generosity. These hungry fish could look up at the duckling’s dinner with envious eyes, but that was pretty much all they could expect. Or was it? When this little baby elephant fell into a water catchment in Kenya, there was nothing her family could do to save her from drowning. Elephants may forge close family bonds, but that’s of very little use when one of their number lands in peril in such a way as this poor little lady. All they could do was stand and watch, hoping against hope that the baby elephant would somehow manage to pull herself free from the water catchment before she inevitably drowned. Nobody likes being in hospital. They’re oftentimes dreary places where patients spend many tedious hours whiling away the time in bed with very little to do but stare into space or look out of the window. Imagine, then, how much worse a stay in a hospital would be if you were blind? In this touching video from Spirit Clips, that is the fate of one patient.
