Professor Stephen Hawking has, as he’s often said, tackled the mysteries of the universe his entire life. And mysteries don’t get a lot bigger than the question that’s plagued mankind since we evolved… Are we alone? Well, the world’s most famous theoretical physicist is certain that aliens exist. And not just that – he suspects that one day that might just head to Earth to ‘conquer and colonize’. A scary thought indeed.

Weirdly, Hawking has only just pledged to help raise and invest more than $150m to help find proof of extraterrestrial life. A little odd considering he’s now convinced that they’ll take our planet for their own!

The professor said in a recent interview with newspaper El País:

“If aliens visit us, the outcome could be much like when Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans.”

“Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they can reach.”

“There’s an increasing risk that a disaster will destroy Earth. I therefore want to raise public awareness about the importance of space flight. I have learnt not to look too far ahead, but to concentrate on the present.”

So keep watching the skies for UFOs, folks…
