A woman thought she’d picked up the bargain of a lifetime when she bought a deep freezer from her neighbor’s yard sale for just $30. However, when she took a look inside, she soon realized that she had got more than she bargained for!
The woman, from Goldboro, North Carolina, and who does not want to be named, told local news that upon opening the freezer, she found the remains of her neighbor, who had not been seen since September of last year! The woman bought the freezer from her neighbor’s daughter three weeks ago, but didn’t open it right away. The woman told her that her mother was using it as a time capsule as part of a Sunday School class project.

When she finally opened up the freezer, she discovered the remains of her neighbor. She said:
“She [the daughter] told me that if I could keep it here and keep it sealed until the church came and picked it up, got the contents, I would be able to keep the deep freezer afterward. I went in there and I opened it up. I lifted the lid and I saw a foot. And I put the lid back down and I tried to analyze what I just saw. And it looked fake so I opened it again and I looked again. But then I recognized the foot. It was her mother’s foot. My heart was in my throat and I ran outside, called 911.”
The neighbor’s daughter left town after the yard sale, telling the buyer she was headed to West Virginia to take care of her mother, who was in a nursing home. However, the unnamed customer doesn’t believe her:
“She sold me her frozen mother for $30. How do you do something like that?”
The investigation is ongoing.
