Today is International Puzzle Day, so we thought we’d mark that fact by bringing you a story about a Japanese man’s ten year struggle with a ring puzzle. The man had contacted a Japanese television show, with a tale of a ring puzzle at his doctor’s surgery. Despite attending the surgery frequently for the last ten years, the man was never able to solve it. In fact, nurses and doctors at the surgery suggested that no-one had ever solved the puzzle.

So the elderly gentleman wrote into the show to ask one of the presenters to help him finally solve it. The show contacted puzzle experts and scientists alike, and after much effort they finally managed to solve the decade long problem. The elderly man is clearly delighted that his mind can finally be put to rest, and he can move onto a new puzzle!
