Detroit, Michigan. Two open carry advocates walked into Dearborn Police Station recently brandishing GUNS as a ‘protest’ to what they see as unfair harassment for carrying their rifles in public. The men, believed to be one James Baker and a man known only as ‘Brandon‘ at this time strolled in expecting to be able to lodge a formal complaint. Instead? They got guns pointed at them and handcuffs on their wrists.
The incident was filmed by the men and streamed onto Baker’s Facebook account live. Before they entered the building, one of them addressed the camera, referencing a previous encounter with an officer.
‘We’re going to go in and file a complaint because we were illegally pulled over about an hour ago. We felt a little afraid for our lives as we were pulled over so we figured we better protect ourselves.’
After the pair brazenly walked into the police station, an officer can be heard shouting ‘Dude! Put that on the ground!’ Another officer then comes out and both pull their weapons.
At one point during the heart-stopping moment, one of the open carry men is heard defending their rights and actions by saying: ‘It’s all legal sir’. The officers continue to bark at them to put their weapons down.
The men were then placed under arrested. It seems that second amendment rights do not trump general laws about pointing guns at police officers…
This is one seriously tense situation. Here is the video that Mr. Baker streamed live on Facebook:
